To understand the meaning behind the prayer in the garden of Gethsemane
Last week we started a series ‘looking at what happened on the way to the cross’ as a preparation time for the celebration of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.
We talked about the divine nature of Jesus’ birth and life and His ministry on this earth.
The text of the crucifixion story is based on and around the Mount of Olives. This was a range of hills with four peaks, the ridge was about 3 ½ kms long and a few hundred metres east from central Jerusalem. It was an olive orchard located across the Kidron valley which was often frequented by Jesus and His disciples. It was from here that the palm Sunday procession began.
